Rug Cleaning

Rugs need special attention. Whether from China, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Morocco or nearer home from Spain, Portugal or Belgium they need to be carefully maintained and looked after. No matter whether they are wool or blended fibres, jute or even silk they can be cleaned and brought back to life.

We will arrange a suitable time to visit and inspect your rugs and advise just what is required. They are taken to the cleaning plant where they will go through a number of processes before being brought back to you.

Depending on the individual rugs requirements, they may be washed or shampooed. Much of the work is hand done. Stains are treated and where possible removed. Fringes are cleaned by hand. Specialist treatments are used to restore lanolin or to coat with a suitable stain protector. When necessary, they might require to be treated for urine or it may be a requirement to protect them from future moth damage.

After cleaning, they are placed in a heated and dehumidified drying room to ensure they are correctly dried prior to wrapping and returning to you.

Rug Cleaning

To key to cleaning any rug is to remove as much dry soil as possible before using any wet cleaning methods. This is where our rug dusting/beating machine comes in.

This is normaly the 1st step in the process and can take quite a few going overs before we are happy to progress to the next step which is vacuumation. (although we some times need to add an attional step in which involves dust removal with compressed air, which is more effective on long piled rugs)

This could be the dirty secret hinding in your rug!

......
Choosing the right cleaning process...

Not all rugs will clean with the same process.

With our experience we will determine the best process for your rug, some rugs are more delicate and require a like wise delicate approach to minimize potential damage. Where as others can be tackled with a much more thorough, less restricted approach.

The next key stage once your rug has been thoroughly cleaned is to dry it out properly, this is where our humidity controlled drying room comes in, we have a low humidity, heated area with fans/blowers to dry your rug out as quickly as possible to minimise any bacterial or fungal issues which can arise from dampness.

Once dry we will inspect your rug and if we are not happy with any marks or feel it could benefit from additional cleaning we will go back through the cleaning process.

When completed your rug will be re-vacuumed and wrapped in paper, ready for delivery.

Fabric Protector

We can also apply fabric protector (Also know as scotch guarding) to your new and freshly cleaned Rugs.
This will aid in keeping the fabric cleaner for longer and give you time to deal with spills  before they start to stain!

What is under your rug? ... it matters!
