Not all carpet cleaning is the same, nor are all carpet cleaners the same. There’s an old adage that says ‘You pays your money and takes your choice and in the case of carpet cleaning it is certainly true.

All too often over the many years that I have been looking after customers, they have told me about their previous experiences - wet carpets, shrinkage, poor cleaning, no customer care, carpets quickly getting dirty.

To be frank, on nearly every occasion those complaining would have benefited had they been able to read and put into practise the information and suggestions in our Consumers Guide. Fortunately, many have done so since talking to me.

There are a number of reasons why we have carpets cleaned including when we buy or sell our property or when there is to be a forthcoming event where we want everything to be as fresh and clean as possible or sometimes, after an event when something has gone wrong. Unfortunately, too few of us seriously consider carpet cleaning as part of the routine care and maintenance programme to ensure the home or office is healthy. Carpets are usually one of the biggest investments we make and yet we tend to neglect them until there is an important occasion or a problem.

The most sensible course of action is to plan how to look after your carpets. If you need assistance in preparing the plan and costing a regular maintenance programme we are willing to assist.

In the event that there might be a specific reason why you require more comprehensive cleaning you can request for restorative carpet cleaning and in the most serious situations salvage cleaning is available. These different methods may well require us to use different equipment and materials from normal to achieve the needed result.

A professional carpet cleaning company will be able to carry out all or at least most of these methods if they are required or if you request them. Be suspicious of anyone who tells you that they only use one system and that it will do anything and everything.

The way work is carried out is also important. Professionally trained and certified carpet cleaners will work to the standard set out by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification in their published standard, the S100 Standard Reference Guide for Professional On-Location Cleaning of Installed Textile Floor Covering Materials. This document is publicly available and sets out the correct practices and procedures consumers, whether domestic or commercial, should expect from a professional carpet cleaner and for each method of cleaning. Some customers have a need to have carpets dry quickly and there are methods which are specifically designed for this. The main one we have chosen to use is called Dry Fusion. Press the side bar button if you would like to learn more about it.
